Tālis Linkaits, Minister of Transport, visits LGS
On 29 March Tālis Linkaits, Minister of Transport, together with members of his staff visited “Latvijas gaisa satiksme” to learn about the company’s operations.
Dāvids Tauriņš, Chairman of the Board of LGS, introduced the guests with the 2018 operating results, which were approved by the company’s shareholder the day before.
The number of flights managed by LGS increased by 8.7% last year. The number of transit flight increased by 7.6%, while the number of flights to and from Riga grew by 11.7%. The net turnover of LGS has reached EUR 30.3 million (an increase of almost EUR 2.5 million from the previous year), and the company’s profitability is 10.7%.
Mr.Tauriņš also presented the LGS proposal for integrating unmanned aircraft into the flight planning and monitoring system. In turn, the Minister stressed that the air space organisational solution must be safe, but also clear and understandable to users.
Mr.Tauriņš furthermore informed the Minister about the latest developments in the designing of the new ATC tower, the material and social security of the staff. He also presented to the Minister the new collective agreement signed by the management of the company, employee representatives and heads of trade unions. The Minister promised to examine the document in order to see what social benefits are due to the employees of the company.
At the end of the visit, the guests were shown the technical assets of LGS, they visited the ATC tower, training simulator and air traffic control centre.
