The main profile of the State Joint Stock Company “Latvijas Gaisa Satiksme” (LGS) is provision of air navigation services for all Latvian airspace users.
Aircrafts influence environment in many different ways. The main issues which the air traffic environmental policy has to deal with are the noise level and emission of climate-affecting gases into the atmosphere.
LGS understands the high importance of the environmental policy in provision of air navigations services and therefore undertakes to reduce the aircraft emission impact on the environment considering LGS financial and technical possibilities as well as the company safety policy in provision of air navigation services. To achieve this goal LGS:

operates according with the legislation of Republic of Latvia, EU and international environment policies, and other compulsory requirements;

uses International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL), Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO) guidelines and recommendation for the environmental aspects in provision of air navigation services;

follows the rules on preventing the environmental pollution;

consequently improves the quality of air navigation services;

cooperates with providers of air navigation services in other countries to exchange relevant information;

is actively involved in local and international events dedicated to the long-term environmental safety in provision of air navigation services;

works on improvement and implementation of the Environment Management System.
