2012 - The year of NEFAB Declaration and Establishment

2012.01.23.

All documentation that is required for the declaration and establishment of NEFAB was submitted to the European Commission collectively by all NEFAB member states in December 2011. The NEFAB project is now well in advance of the requirements described in the Implementing Rule (EC Requirement 176/2011) that states that the information shall be submitted not later than 24th June 2012.

A cooperation agreement on the use of airspace within Northern Europe has been signed

Air navigation service providers in Northern European countries signed an agreement on the 1st December 2011 regarding airspace cooperation. The agreement was signed by the air navigation service providers of Finland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia and Iceland.

Latvian eAIP VFR is issued

2011.04.06.

In March 2011 the work on the electronic AIP VFR of Latvia creation was successfully completed. The new aeronautical information product was developed and produced in accordance with the EUROCONTROL eAIP specification, and for the first time was presented to aviation audience at ATC Global 2011 in Amsterdam.

EUROCONTROL welcomes Latvia as a new member

Changes on the board of state joint stock company "Latvijas gaisa satiksme"

Ministry of the Transport of the Republic of Latvia has nominated a new Executive Board for the Latvian ANSP State Joint Stock Company "Latvijas gaisa satiksme"

European Commission Regulation (EU) No 73/2010 will enter into force on 16th February 2010

2010.02.02.

Commission Regulation No 73/2010 was approved on 26th January 2010. This regulation shall enter into force on 20th day after its publication in the Official Journal of European Union on 27th January.

LGS to Launch Ambitious Modernization Program of the Latvian Air Traffic System

At the ceremony on the 4th of November 2009 held by the “Latvijas gaisa satiksme” (LGS) and attended also by Judith Garber, U.S. ambassador to Latvia, comprehensive study aimed at modernizing the Latvian Air Traffic System was launched.

LGS joined NEAP

State Joint-Stock Company Latvijas Gaisa Satiksme (LGS) joined the North European ANS Providers (NEAP) Program.

Cabinet Regulation No.775 on Aeronautical Information Management and Distribution adopted

2008.12.12.

The Cabinet has recently adopted Regulation No.775 on Aeronautical Information Management and Distribution. These Regulations prescribe the management and distribution of aeronautical information in Latvia. The Regulations apply both to the designated by the State service responsible for aeronautical information processing and storage and to all aeronautical information originators – institutions involved in flight safety.
