On March 16, 2000, Rohde & Schwarz Company was awarded the contract for upgrade of Radio Communication System in Latvia.
The new system was put into operation upon the ordinance issued by the Latvian Civil Aviation Administration on 21 June 2001.
The system includes the following sub-systems:

The system is now located at 5 sites in Latvia to guarantee its functionality in case of turndown of one of the station. Connectivity is implemented via multi-path network ensuring a 100% standby. The concept of standby is maintained at all critical points of the system.
The advanced remote control and management system (ARCEMIS) provides the following tasks:
-
system control for test and service;
-
system monitoring (status display and alarm function);
-
remote error diagnosis an elimination;
-
central database;
-
system configuration (amendment of parameters).
The system consists of a NT 4.0 ARCIS Server located at the Riga ATCC building and of a multi-link controller at each Radio Station. All interconnections are set up by the means of modems.
