The aviation search and rescue in the Republic of Latvia is organised by Civil Aviation Administration of Latvia in accordance with Standards and Recommended Practices of Annex 12 (Search and Rescue) to the Convention on International Civil Aviation and provided by the Civil Aviation Administration with military units responsible for search and rescue operations for civil aircraft.
The Aeronautical Rescue Co-ordination Centre (ARCC), as a structural part of LGS is responsible for co-ordination of SAR operations within Riga FIR.
ARCC is situated in the premises of LGS and operates 24 hours a day.
