Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) provides the users of Latvian air space with information necessary for safe, regular and efficient air navigation.
AIS is responsible for:
- NOTAM processing and issuing;
- aeronautical information publication and distribution;
- aeronautical cartography.
Besides, AIS undertakes the functions in aerodrome procedures design.
Close co-operation with the services, which are the sources of aeronautical information, enables AIS to maintain the quality of aeronautical information in accordance with the international standards and recommended practices.
AIS active participation in international programmes and projects aimed at air navigation provision, such as EAD (European AIS Database), Dynamic Data Procedures, Electronic AIP, ensures its continuous development.
