Safety
Safety assurance systems play a crucial role in the air traffic control sector. In air traffic control safety means the highest possible level of safety in air traffic control through maximum avoidance of risky situations in the air and on the ground (on airfields) that could affect the health or lives of passengers and crew members. Safety is the main priority in aviation with business, technological development and other interests subordinated to it.
The LGS safety assurance system complies with ICAO and European Union regulations. It consists of several components – a change management process, risk analysis and mitigation measures, a reporting system for various incidents, safety improvement measures, etc. These components are identified in LGS documentation and their implementation and progress towards identified objectives is regularly monitored. Objectives are set at European, regional and national level. An overview about the fulfilment of objectives in the previous year is included in the annual report of LGS. The safety assurance system of LGS and its practical implementation is monitored at national (by the Civil Aviation Agency) and international (by ICAO, EASA, etc.) level. LGS works together with other industry representatives – airfield operators (airports), airlines, equipment suppliers, etc. – in order to introduce and maintain the highest possible safety standards.
