Students from Tartu intern at LGS
From 16 January until 10 February three students from the Estonian Aviation Academy (EAVA) interned at the Riga ATC tower of state joint stock company “Latvijas gaisa satiksme” as part of their bachelor study programme. The internship was implemented according to a plan prepared by LGS and approved by the Latvian Civil Aviation Agency.
In the autumn of 2022, LGS representatives visited Tartu to discuss issues pertaining to student internships and decide how to make the most efficient use of the time allocated for the internships. LGS ensured that training materials were made available to the students online even before arriving in Riga; the materials provided a general overview of the organisation of the Riga flight information region. More in-depth theoretical training and an introduction to the specifics of the work of the Riga ATC tower was provided by LGS on site at its offices. After completing the theoretical training, each student was appointed an instructor under whose guidance they learned the specifics of the duties of an air traffic controller on site at the ATC tower.
This was the first occasion that LGS participated in an academic student internship programme.Back
