U.S. ambassador to Latvia visits LGS and discusses cooperation
On 29 November Christopher Robinson, Ambassador of the United States of America to Latvia, visited the national air navigation service provider SJSC “Latvijas gaisa satiksme” (LGS) to get acquainted with the company and its services, including opportunities for military civilian cooperation, as well as to discuss a range of topical issues with Dāvids Tauriņš, Chairman of the Board of LGS.
Tauriņš provided the ambassador with key information about the company and presented its future development plans, including the construction of a new air traffic control tower and the progress in implementing this plan, he also informed Robinson about other current LGS projects.
“I would like to especially highlight the successful cooperation with the US in elaborating the design of the new air traffic control tower, where we worked together with American designers. I highly appreciate the interest shown by the U.S. ambassador in the implementation of the project and future cooperation opportunities,” Tauriņš stressed.
During the visit ambassador Robinson visited the LGS Technical Department, the LGS Air Traffic Control Centre, from where transit flights are controlled, the Training Unit, as well as the air traffic control tower of Riga Airport, where he saw the air traffic controllers at work.
